Vintage Style Feather Tree DIY...

You can make these adorable feather trees in any color and for under $10.00...

Hey Flock, These trees are so easy to make and for the price you can make as many as you want. Not only are they super cute but they also look expensive and give you a big wow factor!

Supplies...

White Christmas Trees (used 24" white ones) (link attached is the right kind of tree but it is a little overpriced, I found some at Dollar Tree in the fall.)

Your choice of color of spray paint. Quick Tip: Try and find paint when its on sale and buy random colors. I got these cans for a dollar each.

Optional Supplies...

A container to put your tree in

Spray glitter

Step One, Fluff it up...

Be sure you get trees that are a single post with single branches/limbs like the one in the picture above. Look for a link in the supply list with a tree that would work. When you fluff up your tree be sure and make them as straight as possible and space them out enough that you can spray between the branches. I was doing three trees in three different colors so I spaced them out to try and limit the paint from one getting on the other.

Step Two, Paint it up...

When you spray your trees make sure to shake up your can of spray paint real good to mix it up. When you start to spray, try and stay 6 to 8 inches away from the tree, this will help your paint not get clumpy or thicken on just one spot. When you have the whole tree sprayed and it looks good let it dry for about an hour. Once the trees have dried pick them up and hold them upside down. You will see that the underside of the branches are still white for the most part. Grab your spray paint and give it another spray while your holding it upside down. You will probably spray your hand a few times. I did end up with blue hands. Be sure when your spraying that you get the trunk area of the tree. Now that all of your tree has been painted and you have let it dry again you can go in and add some spray glitter to it to give it a little sparkle.

Optional Step, give it a home...

I did not put my trees in pots this time but here is a black one I did for Halloween that I put in a vintage inspired black cat pail. All I did was to stick the tree into some styrofoam and add a little black and orange garland around the base. Below is the top of my china cabinet from Halloween it shows the black tree and an orange tree I made.

Finished Project...

Here they are all set up. They really add a great backdrop to the chocolate bunny! For the price and the wow factor of this project don't you think we all should be making them! If you have any questions about any steps or have any ideas on how this post could be made better feel free to reach out and let me know. Head on over to your work space and start your own feather tree forest. Until next time...
